Thank you to everyone who supported the journey of Justice Day. We know that so many people were acquainted with the Justice issues in San Diego and got connected with organizations to help in the efforts against slavery and homelessness. The directors of Justice Day have had a great time the last three years and are now pursuing their own volunteerism projects in the community, still encouraging each person to do the same. Thank you again!

The Worship 6-9pm service is designed to inspire and encourage your heart towards courage for the tasks ahead. Solutions For Change

Sara and Bethany were able to meet Antonea at Solutions for Change this week. They had a great tour and were able to see what great work Solutions is doing in the community with Homeless families.

Voices For Children

Voices for Children advocates for foster youth through a network of trained volunteers who are empowered by the court to become experts about their case children. By developing a one-on-one relationship with their appointed child they are able to understand their concerns and fears, and in many instances they are the only stable and consistent adult presence in the life of a foster child. Much more than just a mentor, volunteers also make recommendations to the court on the best course of action for the child. It’s a question we all ask ourselves when we see people suffering. As human beings, we want to help—but how?

For us, the breakthrough came when we saw first-hand the connection between poverty and the environment. Many people think of poverty and the environment as separate issues, but in fact they are hugely interdependent. Most of the world’s poor are rural poor. Many are subsistence farmers, completely dependent on their environment for survival. But as a result of widespread deforestation, the land isn’t providing like it used to.

Land that once bore bountiful crops that could be sold or eaten, isn’t producing. Streams that used to provide water to drink, now run dry. Out of desperation, the poor cut down more trees to sell as firewood, even though doing so means further destroying their one chance of survival.

By reversing deforestation, Plant With Purpose helps the poor restore productivity to their land to create economic opportunity out of environmental restoration. Since 1984 we have helped thousands of people in nearly 250 villages lift themselves out of poverty through our holistic approach to sustainable development.

The Justice Day love story? Justice Day contracted sound through Sound Image for our first annual event. Bethany met the Justice Day Sound Engineer, Vince Luchetta, during load-in at our first annual Justice Day. They were married one year later on 10-10-10… More history in the making.
